Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

As the Thanksgiving holiday quickly approaches and you start to make your travel plans, we want to provide you with the College’s guidance on travel and returning to campus, bulleted below.

  • For any student, faculty or staff member planning to travel outside of New York State, please consult the or the .
  • If you travel to any state or country on the Advisory, or added to the Advisory while you are there, you will need to quarantine for 14 days upon your return unless it has been removed from the list prior to your return.
  • Employees who voluntarily travel to a state on the Advisory or to a country (as defined by the U.S. Department of State) would not be eligible for the 14 days of “Quarantine Leave” implemented by New York State.

As there are fewer than four weeks left in the term after the Thanksgiving break, please be aware that if you are returning from a state or a country on the travel advisory, you will need to quarantine for 14 days upon return.  Support services such as IT, tutoring, counseling and PACT mentoring are available virtually should you need to continue the term remotely in order to adhere to the quarantine requirements.

For any questions about your ability to return to campus, please speak with your program director, supervisor, faculty member or PACT Mentor.  We remind you of this guidance now based on how it may affect individuals whose job functions and coursework require them to be in-person.

Mercy will have limited services available during the Thanksgiving break beginning Wednesday, November 25 at 5:00 p.m. through Sunday, November 29 at 6:00 p.m. The Office of Residential Life will communicate details separately to students in the residential halls.

We encourage you to reference the Employee Guide for Returning to the Workplace and the Student Handbook Addendum that you received at the beginning of the fall term, which include many of these details.  If you have any questions about your coursework or job requirements, please speak with your faculty member or supervisor.

Sincerely,

Kevin Joyce
Vice President of Student Affairs

Annette Piecora, SPHR
Director, Human Resources
