Dear Faculty and Staff,

As the College prepares to reopen its campuses and continues to respond to these unprecedented circumstances, we thank you for your patience and understanding. New York State continues to trend in a hopeful direction with regard to COVID-19 cases, which is all good news. However, we must all continue to take appropriate precautions.

In an effort to provide you with the necessary information to return to work in a safe and responsible manner, the College has created a detailed Employee Guide for Returning to the Workplace that outlines guiding principles, health and safety measures, cleaning protocols, and new workplace practices and expectations. Later this summer, a guide with similar protocols and expectations for students will be issued.

Phase-in plans for the employees in each individual department will be communicated over the next couple of weeks. These plans will vary by department need and services.

Requirements for Being on Campus:

  • Face coverings must be worn while at any Mercy campus. Each department will be provided a supply of reusable masks; one for each faculty and staff member.
  • All employees must complete  before returning to work. This includes reading the , committing to adhere to the MavCare Pledge, and watching the 15-minute .  All of these are also available on Mercy Connect.
  • Employees reporting to work at a Mercy campus, or other in-person location on behalf of the College, will be asked to conduct a daily COVID health screening and may be asked to show results upon entry to campus. Soon, the College will be sharing information about the new Mavericks Safe app, which includes the COVID health screening tool. Employees returning to work prior to the launch of the app will be notified by their manager about how to conduct their daily screening.

The health and safety of our community is dependent on all of us, and we thank you for your cooperation in following the guidelines outlined in the Employee Guide for Returning to the Workplace. We look forward to welcoming employees and students back to our campuses. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Office of Human Resources at hr@mercy.edu.

Sincerely,

Annette Piecora, SPHR
