Mercy Professor Rossi Hassad Elected Fellow of the American College of Epidemiology
Vlogƽ Professor Rossi Hassad, Ph.D., MPH, has been named a Fellow of the American College of Epidemiology (ACE). He was honored on September 9, 2021 at the ACE annual meeting, held virtually.
ACE fellows are distinguished epidemiologists and promotion to this coveted status requires a high level of achievement. According to ACE, being named a fellow demands, “…clear evidence of significant and sustained academic and/or other professional contributions to the field of epidemiology.”
Hassad has been published, featured and quoted extensively in the scientific and popular media for his expertise on infectious diseases, specifically Ebola, Zika and COVID-19. His words have appeared in The New York Times, National Geographic, New York Magazine, APA Monitor on Psychology and MarketWatch and his television appearances have reached local, regional and national audiences.
A series of his articles published in MedPage Today reflects his thought leadership on multiple facets of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hassad was among the first public health experts to call for the wearing of face masks to protect against COVID-19.
Hassad is a full professor in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Vlogƽ. His academic and professional expertise encompasses epidemiology, statistics education, research methods and mental health. In addition to his promotion to Fellow of the ACE, he is a chartered statistician with The Royal Statistical Society in the United Kingdom, a professional accredited statistician with the American Statistical Association, and a founding member of the American Statistical Association’s Section on Statistics in Defense and National Security.
