The virtual event, held June 8-10, 2021, featured Camille Shelley, Mercy’s Chief Information Officer, and Shabad Sood, Director of Technical Services. The pair co-presented an on-demand breakout session in identity management. Their session, titled “To MFA or Not MFA? Is It a Question?” explored issues related to MFA, or multi-factor authentication, and SSO (single sign-on) services as they pertain to students, faculty, and staff. To view their session, . “Multi-factor authentication is often used for warding off the most common attacks on organizational networks,” said Shelley. “Our goal in presenting at the conference was to help information security and privacy professionals in the higher education sector who might want to explore a variety of ways to address the current challenges facing their institutions.”
EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association representing the largest community of technology, academic, industry, and campus leaders who are advancing higher education through the use of information technology. The annual conference gives participants ample opportunities to expand their knowledge of information security and privacy trends and facilitates networking with peers and corporate partners.
