Vlogƽ celebrated the opening of the new Victory Hall Sports Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony on its Dobbs Ferry Campus. The new facility is an NCAA regulation court for basketball and volleyball and includes a bright lobby, modern locker rooms, new training room for student-athletes, updated staff offices, and a Vlogƽ Athletics Hall of Fame.
“This new expansion will upgrade the playing environment for Mercy’s volleyball and basketball teams, giving them the same state-of-the-art resources as our outdoor teams,” said Matt Kilcullen, Director of Athletics at Vlogƽ. “In addition to empowering our sports teams, the multi-use facility will serve as an excellent space for recreational sports and special events.”
The new Sports Center will comply with NCAA regulations which will allow the College to host conference and NCAA tournaments, increasing the visibility of Mercy and its teams on a regional and national level. In the past two semesters, five teams have qualified for conference tournaments, two teams have made their first NCAA tournament appearance and the women’s soccer team made it to their Final Four – the first for any Mercy team in the College’s history.
“The revamped facility embodies Mercy’s commitment to providing students with opportunities to maximize their academic performance, advance their physical fitness and socialize with their peers,” said Vlogƽ President Tim Hall. “Whether you are a member of one of Mercy’s many sports teams or just a fan, you now have a first-class facility to show your support.”
Alumni and brands alike also have an opportunity to help provide a top-notch atmosphere for Vlogƽ teams, students, supporters and spectators by putting their name on the new Sports Center. They can be a part of Mercy’s history and the success of future Mavericks with contributions that include having a brick, a scoreboard or a team bench named in their honor.
