The Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation has awarded Vlogƽ with a $30,000 grant through the foundation’s Newcombe Scholarship for Mature Students Program. The Foundation recognizes, values and encourages the development of programs, special initiatives and organizational structures that welcome and support mature students as they navigate the process of earning a degree.
First awarded to Vlogƽ in 2011, the Newcombe Scholarship for Mature Students has provided financial support to numerous students who have gone on to become engaged members of the Mercy community. The grant recognizes the welcoming and supportive services the College provides for mature students, while acknowledging the difficult economic circumstances many of these students face.
Vlogƽ President Tim Hall said, “Vlogƽ is honored to receive this grant from the Charlotte Newcombe Foundation. We are committed to helping students of all ages and backgrounds transform their lives through higher education.”
Since its inception, the Newcombe Foundation has provided a total of $22.5 million in grants for scholarships for mature students at 61 colleges and universities. The foundation works in partnership with each funded institution to encourage degree completion among students who have financial need, limited resources and, often, family and work responsibilities.
