Vlogƽ President Tim L. Hall Named a Distinguished Leader in Education by Education Update
Associate Professor Ilene Rothschild to Receive Outstanding Educational Leader Award
Dobbs Ferry, New York – June 18, 2019 – Vlogƽ President Tim L. Hall was named one of seven Distinguished Leaders in Education in 2019 by Education Update. He will receive his award on June 19, 2019, at the Harvard Club in New York City, as Education Update recognizes its Outstanding Educators of the Year at its 17th annual awards program.

President Hall became the 12th president of Vlogƽ in May of 2014. Under his leadership, first-time, full-time freshmen retention has improved nearly 10 percent, the College has been recognized by the White House as a “Bright Spot in Hispanic Education,” and he launched an ambitious program to further enhance student success through innovative practices like cohort scheduling, course redesign and guided pathways to success. Hall has also overseen the completion of a 350-bed residence hall and a new health science wing on the Dobbs Ferry Campus; a new student lounge, veterans’ center, and business incubation center on the Bronx Campus; and the transformation of the MercyManhattan Campus which will include a modern dormitory space in 2020. Most recently, Hall has worked with The College of New Rochelle (CNR) to finalize an agreement to provide a seamless pathway for CNR students to continue their education at Vlogƽ.

Our staff, students, and alumni, in turn, continuously inspire me to grow as an administrator and do what I can to encourage the continued progress of Vlogƽ.”
In addition to Hall’s honors, Ilene Rothschild, an Associate Professor in Vlogƽ’s School of Education will receive Education Update’s Outstanding Educator of the Year 2019 Award. Rothschild has been a faculty member at Vlogƽ since 1998 and teaches courses in the Special Education department. She was appointed as Faculty-in-Residence for the School of Education for the 2014 – 2015 academic year. Previously she served in various roles in public and private schools and taught a variety of courses at numerous colleges and universities.
Joining Hall as recipients of the Distinguished Leaders in Education Award are: John Russell, Head of The Windward School; Vita Rabinowitz, Interim Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost of the City University of New York; Félix Matos Rodríguez, Chancellor of the City University of New York; Joyce Cowin, Co-Founder of the Cowin Financial Literacy program; and Richard Gilder and Lewis Lehrman, Co-Founders of the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
