Q&A With Lowellyn
How did you hear about Mercy?
"I heard about 糖心Vlog破解版 when it was still technically a college. I heard great things about Mercy in high school, but I accepted an offer at SUNY Binghamton. After graduating from Binghamton, I researched accelerated nursing programs near me and found Mercy. I also knew someone that I went to undergrad with who was already in the Nursing program at Mercy, and I connected with her about her experience in the program."
What inspired you to pursue nursing?
"I was inspired to pursue nursing when I realized my traits align well with nursing practice. I鈥檝e always enjoyed providing care, whether it be physical or emotional. I originally wanted to pursue a path in psychology to become a clinical therapist. I decided to take it further and fully immerse myself in the healthcare field through nursing."
Who are your role models or mentors?
"My biggest role model is my older sister, Lourraine. She is 7 years older than me, yet she is my best friend, and I look up to her so much. She graduated from an accelerated nursing program about a year and a half ago and inspired me to pursue my dreams, even if I thought it was 鈥渢oo late.鈥 She continues to advise and support me through nursing school. I can鈥檛 imagine being where I am today without her."
What are your plans after graduation?
"After graduating, I plan to work for a few years as an RN before returning to school to earn either an FNP or a DNP. I鈥檓 not sure which one yet, but I do know I want to further my education past my BSN."
How did I find out about the Student Nursing Association?
"I discovered SNA through my research. I was part of several organizations during my undergraduate career and wanted to have that same experience while at Mercy. I found the SNA Instagram page, immediately joined the organization, and became active. I built the courage to run for cabinet during my first semester in the program, and I鈥檓 now serving as the Bronx Campus Director for the Student Nurses鈥 Association!"
